PILL DISPENSER

OVERVIEW The “Dispill” is a tablet dispenser that utilizes universal design to release medication in a controlled and simple manner. It’s easy-to-use features allow for a wide range of accessibility among users.

This case study was a collaborative effort brought to life by 4 of my very talented peers: Julian Kern, Derrick Ma, Arianna Arias, and Bianca Garcia. I was responsible for conceptualizing and rendering our design.

OBJECTIVE We were tasked with designing a pill dispensing device geared towards helping users with physical disabilities and movement disorders.

APPROACH We knew early on our aim would be to appeal to accessibility: helping as much people as possible, without compromising good user experience.

PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

Arthiritis

Handicap,

Amputee

NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

Parkinson's Disease

Dementia

ALS

FINAL OBSERVATIONS:

Both physical and mental disabilities should be considered moving forward. Design Features should reflect and address the needs as best as possible. As designers, we must design with emotion and people's sense of well being in mind.

CONCEPTS Initial concepts explored two different approaches:

1.) A Stationary Hands-Free Dispenser

2.) A Portable Simple-to-Use Dispenser
